Don’t Forgot The Floss!

People often forget how important flossing is until the day before their dentist appointment. We go months without flossing but when it comes time to go to the dentist we take it seriously. We either try to fit in months, or even years, of flossing in before our appointment, or we ultimately lie about it. This is why your dentist doesn’t want you to forget the floss.

Benefits of Flossing

Flossing may seem like an extra step in your daily dental routine, but it’s important. Dental floss is one of the only instruments you have at home that can help reach between your teeth. The dentist has different tools that can help clean our plaque from in between your teeth, but you don’t have those at home. The next best thing you can have though is floss!

Floss is a great tool to have when it comes to preventing gum disease, plaque build-up, and other dental diseases. Even if you have the best tooth brushing routine, oral issues can occur if you’re not regularly flossing. This simple string can help remove plaque and any leftover food particulars that could break down your enamel. When you lower the chances of plaque, you lower the chances of acquiring much scarier dental issues. So even though flossing can be a pain or an extra step, it’s worth it. We promise!

Routine

The best way to reap the benefits of flossing is to incorporate it into your daily routine. At night before you brush your teeth, take a few moments to floss. You don’t have to floss multiple times a day to experience the benefits. The ADA recommends brushing twice a day and flossing once a day. We recommend flossing at night because it can clear out any leftover food particles from the day.
