Feel Comfortable At The Dentist

premier • November 2, 2022

One of the most important things for the staff at South Holston is ensuring the patients’ comfort. We understand that the dentist is typically not a favorite place for many people. It can bring on nerves or bad memories from past experiences. We wanted to map out a routine visit at our office to ensure patients will feel comfortable at the dentist!

Warm Welcome

When you first get to our office, you will be greeted by our welcoming staff. If you are a new patient, we will need you to fill out some paperwork to catch us up on your oral history. The paperwork shouldn’t take too long, and if you have any questions, a staff member is happy to help! After your paperwork is completed, you will make your way to meet your hygienist. Again, if you are a new patient, we will need to take some x-rays just for our records. This is a quick and painless process that your hygienist will have done within minutes. Once this is complete, your cleaning will begin.

Cleaning

The purpose of your cleaning is to clean your teeth and take a closer look to see if there are any issues. Your hygienist will begin by removing plaque and tartar from your teeth. This does not hurt. Following this step, you will have your teeth brushed! You can ask for a specific flavor of toothpaste if you feel more comfortable that way. Lastly, once your brushing is done, they will floss your teeth! Cleanings typically take around 30 minutes and are typically very painless. When your hygienist is done, the dentist will come in and take a peek.

This is the best time to discuss any questions or concerns you may have about your teeth. If your dentist notices something, he or she will address those concerns at this time. It’s vital to your health to express any concerns you may have about your teeth at this time!
