Dr. Michael McCracken is Professor at the UAB School of Dentistry, and co-director of the Comprehensive Implant Residency Program (CIRP), a yearlong comprehensive implant education institute in Birmingham, Ala. After completing dental school at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a prosthodontic residency at University of Alabama at Birmingham, Dr. McCracken received a PhD in biomedical engineering from UAB with an emphasis on biomaterials.

His past roles within the School of Dentistry include serving as associate dean for education, director of biomaterials, director of graduate prosthodontics, and director of the implant training program. He currently maintains an active research program within the university and directs an NYU-Lutheran Medical Center AEGD program focused on implant dentistry. He lectures internationally on dental implants and complex oral rehabilitation.
